Bikes

Honda Shadow
I started riding motorcycle in 1989 after taking the motorbike safety-training course. My first bike was a 500cc Honda Shadow. I enjoyed learning on this bike and even took a few weekend trips into Montana. This little bike even took me across the Highway to the Sun in Glacier National Park. My first experience on high, narrow mountain roads.

I was hooked from the beginning and in 1991 I bought my first Gold Wing, a 1984 1200cc Aspencade. We rode together for over 85,000kms.

The first year took me south along the Oregon and California coastline to the Mexican border. What an experience that was riding the curves along the coast! I certainly felt my inexperience as a rider. Coming back through Arizona I saw the Grande Canyon for the first time. Another great adventure! In 1992 I bought a Tiny Mite tent trailer and traveled in luxury. It was a real treat not to sleep on the ground. This year was my first trip to Sturgis, SD for the Harley rally and my first trip to a GWRRA Wing Ding, which was held in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1994 I went to the Wing Ding in Albuquerque, New Mexico with other members of the GWRRA Chapter in Edmonton.

1995 Yamaha Virago
In March of 1995 I sold my bike and trailer and bought a 1995 1100cc Virago. I had fun with this bike but missed the luxury of the Gold Wing. In 1996 I found a great deal on a 1985 Aspencade, so I had to buy it.
That year I had two bikes but the Virago didn't get out much so I decided I'd better sell one of them. In the spring of 1997 I advertised both bikes and my Gold Wing sold right away. A few weeks later the Virago went to a lady in British Columbia. Now I was frantic, being without a bike! What could be worse than that! I immediately went out to test ride the GL1500 and on June 3rd, 1997 I came home with a brand new Candy Apple Red, 1500cc Aspencade.

Wow! I still remember the feeling I had riding that bike home. We have traveled over 98,000kms together visiting 40 States and all 10 Provinces. In 1997 we attended the Wing Ding in Billings, Montana. 1998 saw us touring to Niagra Falls, over the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway, and on to Huntsville, Alabama for another Wing Ding rally. Year 2000 took us across the United States and Canada from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic and back. AN ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME!
My latest machine - 2001, 750cc Honda Magna
I bought this bike in May 2001.  After much deliberation and several test rides on different machines, I chose the Magna as the bike to travel around the world on.  It's light and low to the ground, has lots of power, is beautiful and very comfortable.
